CASE STUDY:
Nevada Clean Energy Fund

In January 2024, Summit Consulting was retained by NCEF to achieve the project objective to position their team to support the growth of clean energy programs throughout Nevada. At the time NCEF was a small staff of four with modest clean energy programs but was on the verge of being awarded tens of millions in grants within six months that would dramatically scale staffing and programs.

Each client engagement deserves an individualized assessment of what strategies and tools will be most effective in meeting client objectives with the intent to provide cost-effective solutions that establish sustainability as soon as feasible.

Summit provided a scoping document tailored to client objectives and separated into phases with estimated costs so that NCEF could determine which phases and priorities to pursue with our assistance and which tasks could be deferred or handled internally. Initial engagement services included:

• Assessment of organizational structure
• Assist in identifying core values and workplace attributes
• Assess hiring priorities, review job descriptions and interview templates
• Provide tools and strategies for consideration in establishing team communications and strategic planning
• Provide guidance in establishing grant compliance protocols and systems
• Ongoing assistance in providing executive team coaching to help overcome challenges and work more successfully as a team

The initial engaged services were accomplished over four months. Over the next 12, NCEF launched new programs, secured major grants, increased staff by 500%, and largely preserved its core values and culture with limited turnover. Summit has been grateful for the opportunity to continue to assist NCEF through periodic coaching and team building.
